Frequently Asked Questions

What is a CAS number and how do I get one?

A CAS (Confirmation of Acceptance for Studies) is an electronic reference number issued by your UK institution once you accept your offer and meet conditions. Your university sends it — you cannot apply for a Student visa without it.

Do I need a TB test for a UK Student visa from Jamaica?

Yes. Jamaica is on the UK's list of countries requiring a tuberculosis test. You must get tested at a UK-approved clinic in Jamaica and include the certificate with your visa application.

How much money do I need to show for a UK Student visa?

You must show your full course tuition fees (minus any deposits paid) plus living costs: currently GBP 1,334/month for London or GBP 1,023/month outside London, for up to 9 months. Funds must be held for at least 28 consecutive days.

What is the ATAS certificate and do I need one?

ATAS (Academic Technology Approval Scheme) clearance is required for certain postgraduate courses in sensitive subjects like engineering, science, and technology. Your CAS will indicate if ATAS is needed. Processing takes around 20 working days.
